New York usually has the biggest of everything: skyscrapers, harbor, subway system, store. But one thing it doesn\u2019t have is the largest arts festival in the world.<\/p>\n
That honor goes to Edinburgh Festival. Started in 1947 as a post-war effort to \u201cprovide a platform for the flowering of the human spirit\u201d, it stages approximately 46,000 performances of 3000 different shows over three weeks in August.<\/p>\n
New York performers have been making the pilgrimage since its inception, in the hope of getting discovered or launching their careers on the international stage.<\/p>\n
