Brian Cox, actor, Brooklyn
“The architecture is my favourite aspect of New York. I have the best view of Manhattan from my apartment in Brooklyn. It makes me love Manhattan. New York will always have a pull for me. I had my heyday there and I’ll go back. My favourite time is to be there in the fall.”
Favourite restaurants: “Angus’s next to the St James Theatre on 44th St, and a wee breakfast place on Grove in the West Village, called Buvette. We went to Junior’s diner in Brooklyn on Christmas Day and you get all the lost souls having their Christmas lunch and it’s a reminder of how the other half live.”
Favourite bars: “There’s a little-known bar above Joe Allen’s restaurant that I used to go to…”
Favourite places: “The High Line (pictured top) is a great addition to the city and doing the circle boat trip is good because you get a sense of the island. My favourite place to wander is the West Village – wee cafes and restaurants, and all kinds of nationalities.”
